Benztropine mesylate is a potent dopamine transporter (DAT) inhibitor and central anticholinergic agent. By blocking DAT activity and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, the compound elevates extracellular dopamine concentration and modulates central cholinergic signaling pathways. These downstream functional actions induce oligodendrocyte precursor cell differentiation and promote remyelination in animal models of demyelination, effectively reducing neuroinflammation and disease severity. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
