BCTC is an orally active, potent vanilloid receptor 1 (VR1/TRPV1) antagonist that inhibits capsaicin-induced activation of rat VR1 (IC50 35 nM) and acid-induced activation (IC50 6.0 nM). By blocking TRPV1 channel gating, BCTC attenuates intracellular calcium influx and downstream signaling pathways. Consequently, BCTC suppresses nociceptive processing and exhibits pronounced analgesic effects in rodent models of inflammatory and neuropathic pain. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
