BAY-885 is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 5 (ERK5). By suppressing ERK5 kinase activity, this compound blocks downstream MAPK/ERK5 signaling pathways, leading to reduced transcriptional activity, impaired cell cycle progression, and inhibited cancer cell proliferation. These biological effects make BAY-885 a valuable pharmacological tool for investigating ERK5-mediated oncogenic signaling and cellular phenotype regulation. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
