Biological Activity

BAY-876 is a potent and selective GLUT1 inhibitor (IC50 of exhibiting a selectivity factor of >100 against GLUT2, GLUT3, and GLUT4. By blocking GLUT1-mediated glucose transport, BAY-876 impairs glycolysis and disrupts cellular energy metabolism in glycolytically dependent cancer cells. This targeted metabolic inhibition suppresses cell proliferation and attenuates tumor growth by starving cells of essential metabolic intermediates. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
