Biological Activity

BAY-593 is a small molecule inhibitor and in vivo chemical probe targeting geranylgeranyltransferase-I (GGTase-I). By inhibiting GGTase-I, it blocks the activation of upstream Rho-GTPases, leading to downstream inactivation of oncogenic YAP1/TAZ signaling pathways. Consequently, BAY-593 suppresses YAP1/TAZ-driven transcriptional gene expression, resulting in significant inhibition of cancer cell proliferation in vitro and potent anti-tumor activity in vivo. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
