Biological Activity

BAY-299 is a potent dual bromodomain inhibitor targeting BRPF2 (bromodomain and PHD finger 2) as well as TAF1 and TAF1L (TATA box binding protein-associated factors 1 and 1L). By selectively blocking the bromodomains of BRPF2 and TAF1/TAF1L, BAY-299 disrupts chromatin recognition and acetylated lysine binding within transcription factor complexes. This inhibition suppresses downstream gene expression, impairs chromatin remodeling, and inhibits cellular proliferation in epigenetic research models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
