Biological Activity
Baxdrostat is a selective inhibitor of aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2, Ki 13 nM) with over 100-fold selectivity over 11β-hydroxylase (CYP11B1), and it additionally inhibits multidrug and toxin extrusion transporters MATE1 and MATE2-K. By blocking CYP11B2-mediated steroidogenesis, baxdrostat suppresses aldosterone biosynthesis without disturbing cortisol production. This targeted inhibition reduces circulating aldosterone levels, attenuates mineralocorticoid receptor signaling, and modulates renal electrolyte and water homeostasis. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
