Biological Activity

Batefenterol (GSK961081) is a dual-acting muscarinic receptor antagonist and β2-adrenoceptor agonist, exhibiting high affinity for human M2 muscarinic receptors (Ki 1.4 nM), M3 muscarinic receptors (Ki 1.3 nM), and β2-adrenoceptors (Ki 3.7 nM). By simultaneously inhibiting M3 receptor-mediated bronchoconstriction and stimulating β2-adrenoceptor-driven intracellular cAMP accumulation, it promotes robust and sustained relaxation of airway smooth muscle cells.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
