Biological Activity

Bardoxolone (CDDO) is a synthetic oleanane triterpenoid and potent activator of Nrf2 that acts by releasing Nrf2 from KEAP1. Dissociation from KEAP1 allows Nrf2 to translocate to the nucleus, driving downstream cytoprotective and antioxidant gene expression while inhibiting NF-kB inflammatory pathways. Through these mechanisms, Bardoxolone suppresses cell proliferation and induces programmed cell death (apoptosis) in cancer cell lines.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
