Biological Activity

AZD8421 is a potent and selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) with high selectivity over CDK1, CDK4, and CDKInhibition of CDK2 activity leads to reduced retinoblastoma protein phosphorylation, inducing G1/S cell cycle arrest and cellular senescence. These molecular downstream effects disrupt cell cycle progression and inhibit proliferation, exhibiting marked therapeutic activity in breast and ovarian cancer models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
