AZD1981 is a potent and selective CRTh2 (DP2) receptor antagonist that demonstrates high selectivity over DP1 and other targets. By blocking CRTh2 receptor activation, AZD1981 inhibits prostaglandin D2-mediated signaling, preventing the recruitment and activation of inflammatory cells such as eosinophils, basophils, and Th2 lymphocytes. Consequently, this blockade suppresses downstream inflammatory cytokine production and alleviates allergic airway responses. [1]
