AZ10606120 dihydrochloride is a potent and selective antagonist of the P2X7 receptor. Blockade of P2X7 signaling inhibits downstream receptor-mediated pore formation and suppresses inflammatory cytokine production, including interleukin-1β release. Target inhibition further modulates purinergic pathways involved in neuroinflammation and cell proliferation, leading to antidepressant-like behavioral responses and reduced tumor growth in preclinical disease models. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
