Biological Activity

Astragalus polyphenols (2,3,5,4'-Tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside) is a natural stilbene polyphenol that functions as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. It modulates key signaling networks, including the NF-kB and Nrf2 pathways, leading to suppressed expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and enhanced cellular antioxidant defenses. Additionally, this compound exhibits immune-enhancing and anti-viral properties by stimulating interferon production, thereby mitigating pathogen-induced cellular damage and oxidative stress.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
