Apoptozole is a heat shock protein inhibitor targeting heat shock protein 70 (HSP70, Kd = 0.14 μM) and heat shock cognate protein 70 (Hsc70, Kd = 0.21 μM). By inhibiting the ATPase activity of HSP70 family chaperones, the compound disrupts protein folding machinery and cellular homeostasis. Consequently, this inhibition triggers downstream apoptotic pathways, resulting in caspase-dependent apoptosis across various cancer cell lines.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
