Ambroxol HCl is a potent inhibitor of neuronal Na+ channels. It inhibits tetrodotoxin (TTX)-resistant Na+ currents with IC50 values of 35.2 μM for tonic block and 22.5 μM for phasic block, while inhibiting TTX-sensitive Na+ currents with an IC50 of 100 μM. By blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in dorsal root ganglion neurons, it suppresses neuronal action potential firing and attenuates pain signaling.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
