ALKBH5 inhibitor 2 (Cpd 20m) is a potent and selective inhibitor of RNA m6A demethylase AlkB homolog 5 (ALKBH5) with an IC50 of. By suppressing ALKBH5-mediated demethylation activity, Cpd 20m stabilizes the ALKBH5 protein in HepG2 cells and increases overall RNA m6A levels in intact cells, serving as a cell-active chemical probe to evaluate ALKBH5 epigenetic regulation. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
