Biological Activity

ALKBH5 inhibitor 1 (compound 3) is a small-molecule inhibitor targeting the RNA m6A demethylase ALKBH5 with an IC50 value of 0.84 μM. By blocking ALKBH5-mediated m6A RNA demethylation, this compound alters epitranscriptomic RNA modifications and impairs downstream oncogenic signaling. Consequently, ALKBH5 inhibitor 1 (compound 3) exhibits potent antiproliferative activity, suppressing cancer cell growth in leukemia cell lines. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
