Biological Activity

AKR1C3-IN-1 is a potent inhibitor of aldo-keto reductase 1C3 (AKR1C3). By selectively inhibiting AKR1C3 enzyme activity, this compound disrupts the intratumoral biosynthesis and conversion of active androgenic and estrogenic steroids. Consequently, down-regulation of steroid hormone receptor signaling cascades leads to the inhibition of cell proliferation and the suppression of tumor growth phenotypes in hormone-dependent breast and prostate cancer research models.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
