Biological Activity

AKR1C1-IN-1 is a potent and selective inhibitor of human 20α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (AKR1C1), exhibiting high selectivity over related AKR1C family isoforms including AKR1C2, AKR1C3, and AKR1C4. By selectively inhibiting AKR1C1 activity, the compound prevents the metabolic inactivation of progesterone to 20α-hydroxyprogesterone. This preservation of active progesterone modulates progesterone receptor signaling pathways and suppresses steroid hormone-driven cellular processes in biological systems.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
