Adipic acid (hexanedioic acid) is an endogenous aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and metabolic intermediate generated during peroxisomal and microsomal fatty acid omega-oxidation. It serves as a substrate for sodium-coupled dicarboxylate transporters, such as NaDC1 and NaDC3, facilitating organic anion uptake across cell membranes. Through these transport and metabolic pathways, adipic acid plays a role in cellular energy homeostasis and organic acid disposition in renal and hepatic tissues. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
