Biological Activity

Adenosine disodium triphosphate hydrate is an endogenous nucleotide substrate and essential cellular energy carrier that functions as an agonist for purinergic P2 receptors. It serves as the primary intracellular phosphate donor for protein kinases and metabolic enzymes while facilitating extracellular signaling through P2X ion channel receptors and P2Y G-protein coupled receptors. These purinergic signaling pathways modulate diverse physiological processes, including neurotransmission, vascular tone, muscle contraction, and immune cell activation. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
