Biological Activity
Adaptaquin is a small-molecule inhibitor of hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase 2 (HIF-PHD2). Pharmacological inhibition of HIF-PHD2 suppresses activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4)-dependent pro-death signaling, attenuates lipid peroxidation, and preserves mitochondrial function by restoring membrane potential and ATP production. Downstream, these pathway changes prevent oxidative cell death and protect neurons from brain hemorrhage-induced oxidative injury. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
