Acetylspiramycin is a macrolide antimicrobial agent that targets the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit. By binding to the 50S subunit, it disrupts bacterial protein synthesis by blocking peptide chain elongation during translocation. This inhibition halts essential cellular protein production, demonstrating potent antibacterial activity against a broad spectrum of susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pathogens.
