Biological Activity
ABR-238901 is a small-molecule S100A8/A9 blocker that potently inhibits the interaction of S100A8/A9 with its receptors RAGE and TLR4. By disrupting S100A8/A9 receptor engagement, ABR-238901 suppresses downstream NF-kB signaling and reduces pro-inflammatory mediator expression. Consequently, pharmacological S100A/A9 blockade attenuates systemic inflammatory cytokine production, reduces neutrophil recruitment, and mitigates organ tissue damage and dysfunction in experimental models of severe sepsis. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).

Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer longer shelf life compared to stock solutions.
