Biological Activity

A939572 is a potent, orally bioavailable stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1) inhibitor that targets mouse SCD1 (mSCD1, IC50 <4 nM) and human SCD1 (hSCD1, IC50 37 nM). By blocking SCD1 activity, A939572 impairs the desaturation of saturated fatty acids, leading to disrupted lipid homeostasis, induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress, and inhibition of cell proliferation in cancer models. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
