Ordering Information

Biological Activity

A-196 is a selective inhibitor of SUV420H1 (IC50 = 0.025 μM) and SUV420H2 (IC50 = 0.144 μM), displaying over 100-fold selectivity over other histone methyltransferases and non-epigenetic targets. By blocking SUV420H1 and SUV420H2 activity, A-196 inhibits histone H4 lysine 20 dimethylation and trimethylation in cells. This disruption alters higher-order chromatin organization and regulates downstream cellular processes, including DNA double-strand break repair and genome stability. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
