Shikimic acid (Shikimate) is an essential biochemical intermediate in the shikimate pathway found in plants and microorganisms. It serves as a key precursor for the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids, including phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan, as well as indole derivatives, alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and lignin. Through these metabolic networks, shikimic acid supports fundamental cellular functions, secondary metabolite production, and downstream physiological processes in plants and microbes. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
