Secnidazole is a synthetic nitroimidazole anti-infective agent that targets anaerobic bacteria and protozoan parasites. Upon intracellular reduction, secnidazole generates reactive free radical intermediates that interact with bacterial DNA, leading to strand breakage, inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis, and cell death. It exhibits potent antimicrobial activity against pathogens including Atopobium vaginae and Dientamoeba fragilis, making it effective for treating bacterial vaginosis and parasitic infections. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
