Risperidone is a multi-targeted antagonist targeting serotonin 5-HT2A and dopamine D2 receptors, while also displaying affinity for α1-adrenergic, α2-adrenergic, and histamine H1 receptors. By blocking these receptors, risperidone inhibits dopamine- and serotonin-mediated G-protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways. This receptor antagonism modulates downstream neurotransmitter release and intracellular signaling cascades in neuronal cells, leading to altered cellular excitability and behavioral responses in preclinical models. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
