Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that acts as a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). By inhibiting COX activity, piroxicam suppresses the biosynthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. This inhibition attenuates downstream inflammatory signaling pathways, leading to decreased vascular permeability, reduced tissue edema, and suppressed pain responses in inflammatory model systems. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
