Biological Activity

PHA-793887 is a potent cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor targeting CDK5, CDK2, and CDK7 (IC50 10 nM), with lower potency against CDK1, CDK4, and CDK9. Inhibition of these cyclin-dependent kinase complexes suppresses Retinoblastoma protein phosphorylation and downregulates S-phase cyclins such as cyclin A. Consequently, PHA-793887 inhibits tumor cell proliferation, induces cell-cycle arrest, and triggers apoptosis across multiple cancer cell models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
