Biological Activity

Naftopidil DiHCl is a selective α1-adrenergic receptor and 5-HT1A receptor antagonist. It inhibits cell proliferation in androgen-sensitive LNCaP cells (IC50 = 22.2 μM) and androgen-insensitive PC-3 cells (IC50 = 33.2 μM) by inducing apoptosis. In vivo, oral administration of naftopidil significantly suppresses the growth of PC-3 xenograft tumors in nude mice, highlighting its potential utility in prostate cancer chemoprevention and therapy. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
