Biological Activity

Hyodeoxycholic acid (HDCA) is a secondary bile acid that functions in bile acid signaling through interactions with key bile acid receptors, including farnesoid X receptor (FXR) and G-protein-coupled receptor TGR5. Modulation of these bile acid receptor pathways regulates hepatic lipid metabolism and glucose homeostasis. Downstream activation of these signaling networks contributes to the regulation of metabolic homeostasis and intestinal microbial byproduct clearance. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
