Ferulic acid is a hydroxycinnamic acid derivative that acts as an antioxidant and a fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) inhibitor. It effectively scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and free radicals, thereby protecting cells against oxidative stress and ROS-induced DNA damage. Downstream, ferulic acid suppresses tumor cell proliferation, inhibits angiogenesis, and promotes apoptosis in cancer cell lines, demonstrating broad-spectrum antitumor and vasorelaxant biological activities.
