Biological Activity

Dopamine HCl is an endogenous catecholamine neurotransmitter that acts as an agonist for dopamine D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. As an immediate biosynthetic precursor to norepinephrine, it also stimulates adrenergic beta-1 and alpha receptors in a dose-dependent manner. Engagement of these receptors regulates intracellular cAMP levels and downstream signal transduction, modulating cardiovascular tone and neuronal signaling pathways. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
