Dobutamine HCl is a potent and selective agonist of the β1-adrenergic receptor (β1-AR), while displaying significantly weaker activity toward α1-AR and β2-AR. Upon binding to β1-AR, it triggers downstream Gs protein-mediated adenylate cyclase activation, elevating intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels. This signaling cascade leads to enhanced calcium influx in cardiomyocytes, ultimately promoting myocardial contractility and increasing cardiac output. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
