Biological Activity

Darunavir Ethanolate is a nonpeptidic HIV protease inhibitor designed to form robust interactions with the active site of HIV-1 protease. By inhibiting HIV-1 protease, it prevents the cleavage of viral Gag-Pol polyproteins, thereby blocking viral maturation and rendering newly released viral particles non-infectious. It exhibits potent antiviral activity against both wild-type HIV-1 and multidrug-resistant HIV-1 clinical isolates. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
