Cefditoren pivoxil is an orally active, broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin prodrug with potent antibacterial activity. Following enzymatic hydrolysis to active cefditoren, the compound selectively targets and binds to bacterial penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This binding interferes with peptidoglycan cross-linking during bacterial cell wall synthesis, suppressing cell wall assembly and ultimately causing osmotic lysis and cell death across a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
