Biological Activity

CX-6258 HCl is a potent, ATP-competitive pan-Pim kinase inhibitor targeting Pim1 (IC50 5 nM), Pim2, and Pim3. By blocking Pim kinase activity, CX-6258 suppresses downstream signaling pathways involved in cell survival and proliferation, reducing phosphorylation of substrate proteins such as Bad. This inhibition impairs tumor growth and induces apoptosis across multiple cancer cell lines. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
