Biological Activity

Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic compound that acts as a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor (Kd 2.8 nM) and dopamine D3 receptor (Kd 3.2 nM). By blocking presynaptic and postsynaptic dopamine receptors, it modulates dopaminergic signaling pathways in the central nervous system. This inhibition suppresses dopamine-mediated cellular signaling and reduces hyperdopaminergic cellular responses. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
