Biological Activity

7BIO is an indirubin derivative functioning as a dual inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase-5 (CDK5) and glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK3β). Through modulation of kinase pathways, 7BIO mitigates amyloid-β oligomer-induced tau hyperphosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and synaptic toxicity while attenuating astrocyte and microglial activation. Additionally, 7BIO triggers mitochondrial membrane collapse and caspase-independent necrotic cell death in multiple cell line models. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
