Biological Activity

7,4'-Dihydroxyflavone is a natural flavonoid isolated from Glycyrrhiza uralensis that acts as an inhibitor of eotaxin/CCL11 expression and carbonyl reductase 1 (CBR1). It suppresses eotaxin production in human lung fibroblasts and mitigates dexamethasone-induced eotaxin upregulation. Additionally, 7,4'-dihydroxyflavone attenuates PMA-stimulated MUC5AC gene expression and mucin production in human airway epithelial cells, highlighting its potential anti-inflammatory and mucoregulatory activities. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
