6PPD-Q (6PPD-Quinone) is a substituted p-phenylenediamine quinone derivative and environmental toxicant formed by the oxidation of the tire rubber antioxidant 6PPD. As a potent aquatic toxin, 6PPD-Q induces acute toxicity and lethality in susceptible salmonid species, particularly coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch). Exposure disrupts vascular integrity and cellular homeostasis, resulting in severe physiological dysfunction and mortality in affected aquatic organisms. [1]
