6-Hydroxyindole is an endogenous small-molecule compound that acts as an inhibitor of organic anion transporting polypeptide 1B1 (OATP1B1). OATP1B1 is an essential hepatic uptake transporter responsible for mediating the clearance of various endogenous metabolites and drugs from portal circulation into hepatocytes. Inhibition of OATP1B1 disrupts transporter-mediated hepatic uptake, impacting cellular drug transport and endogenous clearance pathways. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
