Biological Activity

5-Ph-IAA is a synthetic auxin derivative and bumped-IAA analogue that functions as a chemical inducer of proximity in the auxin-inducible degron 2 (AID2) system by selectively binding OsTIR1(F74G). Engagement of 5-Ph-IAA with the mutant OsTIR1(F74G) receptor recruits target proteins fused with a mini-auxin-inducible degron tag to the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex, facilitating rapid ubiquitin-mediated proteasomal degradation. This precise, inducible depletion enables functional characterization of target proteins in living cells. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
