Biological Activity

5,7-Dihydroxychromone (DHC) is a plant-derived antioxidant compound that acts as a potent activator of Nrf2/ARE signaling, as well as PPAR and LXR pathways. Activation of Nrf2/ARE signaling promotes the nuclear translocation of Nrf2, leading to the upregulation of downstream antioxidant genes, attenuated reactive oxygen species generation, and reduced neuronal apoptosis. Concurrently, upregulation of PPARγ and LXRα expression induces adipocyte differentiation, supporting blood glucose regulation and exhibiting anti-diabetic activity. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
