Ordering Information

Biological Activity

4-MMPB is a selective inhibitor of 15-lipoxygenase (15-LO; IC50 = 18 μM), soybean 15-lipoxygenase (SLO; IC50 = 19.5 μM), and human 15-lipoxygenase-1 (15-LOX-1; IC=. By targeting lipoxygenase-mediated signaling pathways, 4-MMPB suppresses cell proliferation and survival in prostate cancer models. Downstream inhibition of-LOX triggers key cell death pathways, including apoptosis and ferroptosis, leading to delayed tumor growth. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
