Biological Activity

4',7-Dimethoxy-5-hydroxyflavone is a dietary flavonoid derivative that acts as a dual inhibitor of α-glucosidase and α-amylase. By attenuating the activity of these primary carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes, the compound limits enzymatic glucose cleavage. Additionally, 4',7-dimethoxy-5-hydroxyflavone enhances cellular glucose uptake, promoting 2-NBDG internalization in L6 skeletal muscle cells to support metabolic pathway regulation and cellular glucose homeostasis.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
