Biological Activity

2'-Deoxyuridine 5'-monophosphate disodium salt (dUMP) acts as a native nucleotide substrate for thymidylate synthase, undergoing reductive methylation to yield 2'-deoxythymidine 5'-monophosphate (dTMP). This enzymatically catalyzed conversion is essential for the de novo synthesis of thymidine nucleotides required for DNA replication and repair. Modulation of dUMP methylation directly regulates pyrimidine biosynthesis, governing cellular proliferation in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
