Biological Activity

2'-Deoxycytidine 5'-monophosphate (dCMP) is an endogenous nucleotide metabolite that serves as an essential intermediate in pyrimidine nucleotide metabolism and DNA synthesis. It functions as a key precursor for DNA replication and repair pathways within cellular systems. Additionally, dCMP is utilized as a molecular model to investigate mechanisms of radiation-induced DNA strand breaks mediated by secondary electrons, decomposing primarily via C-O phosphoester bond cleavage.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
